HONOLULU, HAWAII -- I booked a trip to Hawaii in Mid May 2013. Thought I would get a better deal if I book a hotel with Priceline. com. It indeed saved me $40 per night. So I was happy. In the middle of my trip in Maui, I heard my mom had a stroke and I needed to be home right away. I had to cancel my 4 nights hotel in HNL where my final destination was. Understood my booking was non refundable and non transferable. Thought Priceline would have some kind of policy any emergency situation. They sent me $25 voucher. I paid $700 hotel without staying there 1 night.

Unless you are 100% sure yr plan and hope there will be unexpected situation, otherwise, you are screwed.

No refunds means just that, that is why you get a discount or you should pay full price and purchase insurance, sorry about your mom.

That's why travel insurance exists.
