Best of Italy Post Tour - This post tour followed a wonderful 15 day cruise on Princess Line.
FLORIDA -- It was booked in Nov. 2012 but the travel documents were received by
e-mail 3 days prior to departure. At this time we learned travel was by
train in Italy with no guide or guidance and no one travelling with us. This
meant we had to carry our own bags on and off trains and on 2 occasions
down 30 stairs, through a concourse and up 30 steps to reach the right
platform to board the train. Keep in mind we had just finished a 15 day
cruise with our large bags weighing just under 50 lbs. Some stations were
unmanned and others had representatives who spoke little or no English.
Our hotels were located at least an hour from Venice and Rome and the
food, while edible, was very unappealing which necessitated eating in
restaurants at our own expense some of the time to enjoy it. None of
this was explained to us by our sales representative. As a result of being
exhausted from train travel and the distance involved from town we missed doing and seeing those things which were important to us.
By way of clarification to those reading this, I turned 79 within a week of my return to the U. S. I have chronic anemia. My friend is 77 with a heart
problem and has had several heart attacks. The agent who booked us was aware of our ages which we had to put on our applications. Should he not have made us aware of what this Post Tour involved?
Coincidentally, This same company had a bus trip following the same
approximate route as that which we were taking. These people stayed in the same hotels and we befriended them. They could not believe these
two old ladies were sent on this type of a trip.
