Con-Edison Informative - USING LESS HEAT,

Review by Amachi on 2006-02-28
NY, NEW YORK -- We all know Con-Edison(New York) who supllies our heating services, like other utilities say our heating bills will cost more due to Hurricanes like Katrina causing effects on oil production. Those of us living in New York City area experienced a mild January 2006.Con-Ed constantly supposed to be telling us how to conserve energy & cut down cost of our heating bill. Well, we used their formula of setting out thermostat at 60 degrees at night and 68 degrees during the day. Now with January being such a mild month,we turned the heat OFF quite a few days that month. We are on their Level Billing plan where we pay a set amount each month. So, we receive our new bill which shows we used less heat even less than last year same time), but they are charging us more than our level billing amopunt. So, how do you win? We turn off the heat, lower out thermostat and still get charged more??. I am fed up with this. Any suggestions out there???

What in the world is a "level billing amopunt?"

It takes awhile for the level billing plan to show a difference I think. They take an estimated yearly total and devide it by 12. Your total next time they figure it should be less unless the cost of energy goes up greater than your saved energy amount.
