McDonalds - Honored 16-18 Year Old Gift Certificates
MECHANICSVILLE, VIRGINIA -- I was doing some cleaning/decluttering of some belongings at my house, and I came across two packets of McDonald's gift certificates from circa 1996. I found two $5 packs of them. The next day I went to McDonalds for my customary Filet-O-Fish combo meal and I decided to see if they would still take the old gift certificates (These days they use gift cards with magnetic strips). I really wasn't expecting them to, as I was sure that I was going hear an excuse about how their policy has changed over years and they only accept the arch card now, or something to that effect. I placed my order and present the gift certificates to the person behind the counter. The gift certificates were probably older than her. She wasn't sure what do to with them so she called the manager over.
The manager noted she hadn't seen those in years, she looked them over, said there was no expiration date, and therefore they were perfectly fine to use. She instructed the younger employee to simply ring it up as cash as their POS's don't process gift certificates anymore. Which she did, and a few minutes later I had my food.
