AT&T Changed Status of Phone. No Explanation
Pay-Go Unlimited - Complaint
The problem: I noticed that my phone was no longer syncing calendar and I could not d/l email. Phone: a 6+ year old NoKia, on AT&T for over a year. NB I do not have a browser / access the web on this phone.
1. Call One. Got sent to tech guys, tried to reset all settings. No joy.
1b. Follow up two days later, reset SIM. No joy.
2. I made calls every couple of days to make sure case was still open.
3. Finally - ten days later - was told my phone is considered "first generation smartphone" and required an additional data plan. CS restored functionality and added $15 to my monthly bill.
No explanation on why a feature phone turned into a smartphone overnight. Completely unacceptable that they cut off service without notice.
Even more frustrating that it took five calls to Customer Service to find an answer to what happened : Thanks Lillian! Boo to Glen, Enrique, Lynn, and Vivian.
