Direct TV Wouldn't Release Auto Payment Information To Me Regarding My Own Account
I just broke up with my boyfriend, whose name was listed as the primary account holder on our Direct TV account. My name should have also been listed on that account. I was sitting right next to him when he gave the Direct TV representative my information, saying there would be two people listed on the account.
Also, my banking information was linked to the account and set up for auto pay each month. Today I called Direct TV to make sure my payment information would no longer be linked to the account, since I moved out of the residence and my now ex-boyfriend stayed living there. I was told I was not listed on the account and that I could not make any changes to the account without his consent. My ex and I are not communicating at this time, and there would be no possible way for me to ask him to call in and release my payment information from the file. The Direct TV representative and the manager I spoke with were rude and unhelpful, and they didn't do anything to try to associate the payment information on file with my name. I explained to them that I already had canceled my debit card, so if that was the payment information on file it would not process anyway, but if it was linked directly to my checking account with the account number and routing number that I needed to know so I could go to my bank and prevent authorization of any future payments.
They didn't try to help at all and frankly didn't even seem to care about the situation. I am furious. If even one payment processes from Direct TV that I didn't authorize, I will file charges against them and take them to court for whatever money they and my ex try to steal from me.
This is the worst customer service I have ever received, and if this company and all its employees fell off the face of the earth no one would miss them. Seriously not worth saving a few extra bucks a month to deal with this company.
