SHILO, ALABAMA -- The 8500.00 mower lasted one year before we started having problems. It would run fine for say the first 10 minutes of mowing and then just die. You could start it back up run a few minutes and it would die again. It will not run long enough to mow our yard. We took it back to the dealership it was purchased from and they worked on it for nearly two weeks, said they could not fix it, cleaned the carb and said it was the ethanol in the gas. That's everyone's excuse now. We contacted Grasshopper and spoke with their service and sales, their comment was we just sell the mowers and are not responsible for the engines. So, I guess you can sit the mower in your front yard and hang flower baskets on it. My suggestion DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A GRASSHOPPER! They will not stand behind their engines......

engines on mowers are often covered by the manufacturer of the engine. on my husqvarna mower, Honda made the engine, and is covered by them, not the deck. (body)

try contacting the manufacturer of the engine.
