Home Depot - Won't Honor Military Discount - Lied to by Help Line
MORRISON, COLORADO -- Recently purchased and returned a new gas stove and refrigerator. The HD sales representative was great and knowledgeable, however the corporate help line lost them the $3500 sale.
After selecting our new appliances and ringing them up we tried to apply our 10% HD military discount (a fantastic program that is matched by Lowes). The 'system' actually RAISED THE PRICE by about $15 when the 'discount' was applied. The sales representative was deeply embarrasssed and tried unsuccessfully for 40min to figure out what the problem was. Eventually even he was so disgusted that he offered us a token $18 'customer satisfaction' discount and recommended that we call the customer help line.
An hour later, I called the customer help line and an incredibly rude representative told us that the reason we couldn't get our 10% military discount ($350) was because the store had already given us the $18 discount!! She refused to believe me, or contact the store for an explanation of the events. AND she refused to remove the $18 discount and then subsequently add the 10%.
Returned the purchase 30min later. I'll probably pay more for the same items elsewhere, and I think I'm OK with that in order to never give HD another dollar ever again.
