Eddie Bauer Inc Complaint - Return Policy

Complaint
Review by FinerGrafx on 2006-03-07
ONLINE -- I recently purchased 3 pair of jeans from the Eddie Bauer on line store. I ordered the same Jean in three different colors. I received three different type of jeans in three different sizes. On there invoice it indicates that you can return items to a local store in the US.

I go to my local Eddie Bauer and they wont take them back. They call customer service for me and customer service says that it is the policy of the store that I have to return them in the mail. So much for their claim that I can return them to a store and one of the reasons for the return is that you received the wrong merchandise.

So I figured out that their true policy is to make it as difficult as possible to return hoping you won't. They have just lost me as a customer and I am emailing this to as many friends and relatives that I have. Hopefully they will not shop Eddie Bauer. Obviously our time means nothing.

This is from their website:

If, at any time, you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, simply exchange it or return it to us for a refund. Your purchase is guaranteed for the lifetime of the product under normal wear and tear and/or defects in original workmanship.

Considering how different every single pair of jeans fit and feel, it is one item I would never order on-line.

Their website seems clear - "return it to us for a refund", not return it to a store. Even if that was on the invoice, you certainly could not have had that impression when you placed the order online. My guess is you couldn't make up your mind so you ordered three colors fully planning to return the two you didn't want once you tried them on. That's the type of customer that leads to more restrictive return rules for the rest of us.

I returned a Christmas gift without receipt.I was given a store credit for 70% off price. The credit slip required photo ID to use so I couldn't even sell the credit.I don't like the store or it's products but am forced to use the credit myself.I guess I will go to one of their stores and try to sell the credit to a customer standing in line. I DON'T recommomend this company to anyone.

As an Eddie Bauer associate, I cannot believe that your story is true. Don't give up on the company please. Next time anything like that ever happens, ask to speak to the manager and ask to see the return policy.
