Cadillac Complaint - Imposed speed limit - 2006 cadilac STS

2006 cadilac STS - Complaint
Review by rick737 on 2006-03-07
MALTA, NEW YORK -- The 2006 cadillac V8 luxury performance optioned car is limited to 108 mph by the PCM. The lame excuse given by cadillac is the tires are only rated for 110 mph. now lets clear up one thing. I don't normally cruise around at 100+mph but i was being harassed by 3 punks in a clunker. the STS accelerated quickly away from the problem but imagine my surprise when the purps quickly caught me to continue their intimidation.
My major complaint is why does my $52000.00 performance sedan have such cheap tires installed that it has to be governed. the car handles very well and would handle fine at a higher speed. secondly, the car was marketed as a performance car to performance minded people. there was never a mention of an artifically low speed limit in the advertising, the operators manual, or by the sales staff. this is fraud. or, at the very least, deceptive. better tires and honesty on the part of cadillac would go a long way to correcting this problem

Some of the Camaro Iroc Z-28's were governed around 120 mph and if that was exceeded they would shut down. Imagine if your car just turned off at 120. That would be scary.

Couldn't you have just ignored these punks? You could of caused a accident.

I know if I had his Caddy I wouldn't ignore much. Cept running top end.

TANDER you need to grow up act like a man not a child with your remarks. how do you know they were not holding a gun, i guess you think you so tuff but i bet you would run too its not the 50s any more. today people will kill you over any thing or do you keep your head in the sand

Why not just call the police on your cell phone?

Tander... you fail to see the point: people who drive $52,000 cars are not expected to obey the law, that's just for the little people who drive sedans! When you pay that much for a car, you damn well ought to have the right to drive as fast as you like, doesn't matter one single bit who else you might put in jeopardy. It's just nature's way of weeding out the lesser species.

Rick did the right thing in my opinion. How long would the police take to get there if they were called? Those punks might have had intentions on hurting, carjacking or worse. Ignore them? I think not. If you weren't there why make such an asinine statement. IMHO

Car7, I agree with your post. The funny thing is that 'Tanderoo' is a female. (LOL)

many fail to see the point of my posting. no, I DON'T have the right to break speed laws because I own an expensive car. I do have the right to protect myself and family, by all means necessary against unwarranted aggression. My option that day was to seperate myself with the car that I was in from the aggressors. It failed me, and I felt it necessary to warn others away from a car that is advertised by GM as a performance car, and it is not. I think of one posting that I bought the right to break the law as just plain STUPID class warfare. I've worked harder than you will ever know to enjoy a few rewards in life. I will never make apolegies for it.

to the posting that suggests I buy new tires. I did buy new tires. they were on the car when i bought it. Replacing the tires will not remove the limitation. If I choose to replace the tires, I would also have to pay to reprogram the pcm. That action would void the warranty. imagine the glee of GM at not having to back my new car.

My 2006 DTS has a problem with the bar brake light cover cracking it cracks in about 4 places I have had the 4thcoverput on I don't won't moisture to get in it and cause it to short out. It's still under warrenty. Iwould like to trade it for a STS. It's inconvient to carry it in forrepair I bought it new and it has about 1400.00 miles on it.

I am truely shocked, the STS is limited to 108. I am going to buy a car over the weekend, the STS was on the top of my list until now.

I buy a new luxury car every two years, occasionally I enjoy running my investment up to 120mph or even 130mph. I am fairly certain that most 47 year old men feel similar.

I have another comment after reading all the various posts. "Some of you need to get a life."

The STS owner outruns a possibly dangereous situation, in the process he discovers a blatant misrepresentation by Cadilac in regard to the performance auto he purchased.

A number of you respond by making him the bad guy???????

He is not a punk racing in and out of cars on the freeway, nor is he a drunk endangering peoples lives. He never implied that he was above the law because he could afford a Cadilac.

Why are you people attacking????
