NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- We had stayed at the Manhattan Club 2/25-3/3, 2012, using RCI points. Very positive, so much so that we paid rack rate for 5/11-17, 2013 stay. Couldn't be more disappointed. Reserved a "handicap accessible suite," as before. Instead, got 1 room (not a "suite") with no handicap accessible bars in bathroom. Handyman came with bars he didn't know how to install, despite NYC architect son's assertion that suction cups on bars in bathrooms were illegal anyway; no other accommodations were available.

Our 2nd floor room faced a courtyard full of noisy construction machinery roaring 7 a. m. to 5 p. m. daily. Other fellow sufferers on what we all came to refer to as "the dreaded 2nd floor" weren't offered a discount, an apology or as one woman suggested, "a little glass of wine" on arrival. At the front desk I even had to pay full 1st class postage for a requested postcard stamp. Upon checkout, no bellman or wheelchair available to assist this 73-year-old grandmother.
