Dish TV - Cancelling Dish
Customer Service - Complaint
FENTON, MICHIGAN -- I called to cancel dish TV. I had dish for over 4 years and throughout the years they screwed me little by little. I did nothing because I was under contract for the first 2 years. I had signed up for a good deal, but when I put the service on pause all of the discounts were cancelled and I had to pay full price. This was after the first year, because they told me I could not put it on pause until after year 1 of my contract. Later on after talking to one of there customer reps. I found this was not true.
They gave me starz free for a year, but again I put it on pause they cancelled my free starz, because I put it on pause, again I was never told that I would lose the free movie channel.
Last year they raised the price of pause from $5.35 to $12.46, again a customer service representative told me they did not raise the price, but the representative that put my service on pause left a $7.00 protection price on the billing. I was told I could take my receivers with me to Florida and have dish there and I would not have to put my service on pause. I called to confirm I could do this and I was to by customer service there would be $100.00 charge going and coming back if I did that.
After all this I decided to cancel the service I was told I would have to pay cancellation fee because I was still under contract. What they did was in April 2011 they called and said they wanted to upgrade my equipment. I agreed, the tech person came and completed the work and asked that I sign the work order, he never said it was a new contract, but they claimed it was, and now they want me to pay them a fee.
I would not recommend that any one take dish as there TV service.
