TEMPLE, TEXAS -- I have used cascade diswasher detergent for years and my dishwasher is not one of the newer ones. I used the newer detergent and did not like the way my dishes were cleaned. Therefore I really prefer the 45 oz. 2.81 lbs cascade complete box. Only 75 oz. 4.68 lbs available and was told by store manager that this type of detergent will not be available much longer.

First, the larger box is heavy for me to lift and pour and barely fits in my cabinet. Second, I am a very senior citizen. Why are all of the best products being taken off market? Senior citizens make up a large portion of buyers. Hope you will listen to this one.

You might want to try a store brand of the same type. Many are actually the same as Cascade---after all, they are only powdered soaps with low suds. Many brands now are trying to get you to buy the individual cubes, etc. They cost much more to use. Check around and try different, cheap brands. By the way, I am seeing a lot of complaints about Cascade leaving a film on dishes. Perhaps they have changed their formula recently.

Dishwasher detergents eliminated the phosphates in their formulas several years ago. Great for the environment, lousy for the dishes. I buy the Finish gel packs and they work very well. I also use vinegar in the rinse aid compartment.

If you use whatever dishwashing detergent....once loaded and ready to go, throw a cup full of white vinegar in the tub and start the washer. Read this on the internet and it's magical....no spots, lovely clean dishes.

Interesting post. I used to buy the dollar store dishwasher detergent which was OK except with our water you have to make sure you don't add too much or the stuff comes out cloudy with deposits. So I tried Cascade and never saw so much scum on my dishes even using less. I'm back to the dollar store stuff when this is used up and meantime will try the vinegar idea.
