DirecTV - Inconsistent Reception in Southern Florida
DANVILLE, VIRGINIA -- I had DirecTV service in northern Michigan in 2002. I experienced no real problems other than losing reception once or twice per winter during an ice storm or heavy snow/ice build-up on the dish equipment.
Because of my positive experience in Michigan I decided to purchase DirecTV service again when I moved to Fort Myers, Florida this year. I made a big.....and expensive mistake. Since March 2013 the television reception has been lost at least once per week and now is occurring up to seven times per week as we move into the rain and lightening season. The outages seem to last anywhere from two to forty-five minutes. This happens when there is heavy OR light rain and when lightening is near OR far away. I have never experienced reception loss like this when I was a cable customer at various locations throughout the country.
Even if there were no daily rain and lightening here in SW Florida I still would not sign up for DirecTV again. The "genie" system is very slow and any attempt to change the channel is a true exercise in patience. The recording with the DVR does seem to work well. Now if I can only get the company to stop calling me to sell me even more.
