Jeld-Wen - Worst Consumer Experience I've Ever Had
Windows - Complaint
SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA -- A window in our house broke, so we needed a replacement as quickly as possible. A contractor we work with suggested getting a Jeld-Wen window, available through the Santa Cruz Home Depot. After a more than three month nightmare, we've finally cancelled the whole thing. Our window is still boarded up, and now we're looking for a replacement window elsewhere.
We wanted a double hung window with a mechanism you could use to lock the window in the open position. Between Jeld-Wen and Home Depot, they never could get the order right. First few windows they sent didn't have the lock mechanism installed. Finally, 3 months after we first placed the order, we got a window that seemed to be right. Went to install it, and it turned out you couldn't lower the top pane. It was supposed to be double hung, but the top window was completely jammed and couldn't be moved. Took it back, ordered another one, it came with the same problem.
This company seems incapable of manufacturing even one window correctly. I strongly recommend that you do not use Home Depot or Jeld-Wen for new windows. They don't even seem to care if they do a good job.
