Lowe's Flooring - Flooring Department Employees Not Well Informed
STONY BROOK, NEW YORK -- I had seen Stainmaster carpet that I thought would be suitable for an area rug for our bedroom. When I asked the employee about ordering it, he said that he had to send a fax to get a quote from the installers. I mentioned that I wouldn't need installation as it was just a bound area rug. He checked with his supervisor who said that they charge a "cut fee" of $50 in addition to the square foot and binding charge. This didn't make sense unless everyone buys an entire roll! Nevertheless, he took my information, said they would fax the following day and call me the next day.
After not hearing from anyone, six days later I called the store and again was told about the "cut fee" that they claim Stainmaster charges them. Then they said that the installer charges it because they have to deliver the bound rug back to Lowe's where I have to go to pick it up.
I went back to the store and this time they faxed over my information. Two days later, I went back to buy something else and when I checked out, they charged me for the rug that I never ordered!
I decided to buy my rug somewhere else. By the way, the carpet store never mentioned a "cut fee."
