PLANT CITY, FLORIDA -- I went in for a simple oil change. Was told by sales associate "you know that's synthetic oil" which meant nothing to me. I expected around $40.00 like everyone else. When I complained at the $70.00 charge, they said "you signed for it". Never have I ever paid $70.00 for a simple oil change. My advice - STAY AWAY FROM TIRE KINGDOM!!

Did you sign for it? Synthetic oil is much more expensive and most of the time not needed.

You weren't deceived or anything, they told you that either you selected or your car takes synthetic oil and then you signed for it. Synthetic oil is usually about twice as expensive as dino oil. Consider this a lesson learned.

Based on what you've shared here, Tire Kingdom didn't do anything wrong.

Agree with the others. If in fact your car takes synthetic oil (that is right in your owner's manual, and something you should know), then it would be materially more expensive.

How much is material? You might pay $20 more for the oil. Looks like you were charged $30 more.

Excuse me folks, I wouldn't know one type of oil from another. I've always had my oil changes done at a local tire business that obviously changes oil, replaces batteries, replaces wiper blades and the like. They tell me what kind of oil I need. In addition, I have a copy of everything ever done to my car folded and neatly placed in the console of my car. Just because the OP didn't know what type of oil was needed should not be a reflection on him. The sales associate should have known and never suggested the higher priced oil.
