Direct TV - Unfair Bill Charges After Death of a Long Time User
Billing Dept - Complaint
OKLAHOMA/TEXAS, OKLAHOMA -- My aunt was a long time subscriber of Direct TV and moved from New Caney, Texas to Wagoner in Dec 2012 . During the move the service was suspended for six months however she never recovered from pancreatic cancer and passed June 12. I never realized the need to cancel service because all the DirecTV receivers were still packed as she was forced due to health to live with my wife and I. When I received a bill after she had died for $85.62 I called to correct the charge on 7/1/13 and was advised a envelope would be mailed for access cards which were returned. Later a revised bill of$41.99 was accessed from her bank account and after a long discussion and numerous different DirecTV operators on 7/1, 7/8 and 7/12 no positive result could be reached even though we never used the service. I personally have had DirecTV since 1991 and my aunt had DirecTV for 4 years. I am really upset with the auto pay because you have no recourse or arbitration with DirecTV. I recommend to all that you need to use a credit card with auto pay and not a bank account when dealing with DirecTV. You then can contest an unfair charge or objection. I plan to change to Dish as soon as my committed time is up with Direct based upon this experience and hours of wasted time. I am in my 70s and my aunt was 88. Beware Seniors!!
This is the first time I felt the need to go public! Sincerely submitted to all!
