Hotels.com - Dishonest, Misleading and Difficult to Work With
Reservations - Complaint
I tried to book into a certain motel, and after telling me it was't available, the agent recommended a motel that had "94% recommendations." Checkng on the motel, the reviews were abhorrent---from bugs in the rooms, to holes in the walls, to police needing to come to the motel because of certain activity, etc.
Trying to cancel directly with the motel, I learned that Hotel.com's reservation was made for the wrong night, they gave me a false telephone number for the hotel, and that the hotel can't cancel a third-party reservation because they are locked out of the third-party reservation system. When I called Hotels.com a few moments later to cancel my reservation, they refused, and said that only the motel can cancel.
I confronted Hotels.com with all of the fraudulent misleading information that they gave me, and they insisted that I would have to pay for the 1-night reservation that I had made only minutes ago. Of course, I advised her then and in fact did call my bank to cancel the charge.
