VBRO: Julia's Hideaway - Moldy Apartment Can Be Hazardous to Your Health
Short Term Vacation Rental #295788 - Complaint
SAVANNAH, GEORGIA -- My husband and I rented a ground floor unit in Historic Downtown Savannah in late June 2013. Our intention here is to make future renters aware that the first floor unit is not inhabitable. I have delayed writing my review because all correspondence seemed above board.
The land lord did contact me by phone and responded to my emails. He did not request a cleaning fee nor was there a security deposit. It was a very fair price. The only room with the musty smell was the living room. The apartment and the linens were clean. The bed was comfortable and the shower worked well. The apartment has enormous potential. However, the landlord is passing his ill fortune onto innocent renters who may suffer from allergies because of his recklessness.
I have decided to post this review because I have read how VBRO may opt not publish negative reviews and that the landlord can be selective about which reviews are posted. Consequently, I was left with an inaccurate image of apartment 295788. That may explain why all the reviews were for the second floor apartment. The reviews however could all have been written by the same person-the landlord. I have much expertise in this area. I am a teacher.
Both my husband and I developed cold symptoms which lasted for 5 days. We did not use the coffee pot. That was very suspect. The outside patio description was not accurate. This was definitely a misrepresentation. Lastly, the landlord never came to pick up his check. Was this done purposefully? Had we rented for more than 2 nights I probably would have contested. I firmly believe what goes around comes around. I will be posting this review on VBRO. Let's see what happens.
