SALISBURY, MARYLAND -- Watch crystal was replaced by Robinsons. Afterward I was swimming with the watch (which I have done for the past ten years) and I found the watch full of water. I took the watch back to the Jeweler and I was told that they (Robinson's) does not guarantee repaired watches after they have been opened.

I called Citizen and was told that it would have been guaranteed if they had done the repair. If you need a repair on your watch don't take it to Robinsons unless you don't care if it ever works again.

I repair watches as a hobby, its very hard to reset a gasket on a water proof watch. I've done a few and its easy to mess up the gasket and I know what I'm doing. I'd advise for any person that has a nice watch that is water proof take it to a competent watch repair place to have a crystal or movement repair. Make sure they warranty their work. Replacing a battery is one thing but any other work for a watch like that needs a good skilled person to do it right. If you have the option to have the mfg repair it, take it to them.

I have read warrenties in the past that said something along the lines of "waterresistant as long as original crystal remains intact."
