SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I called Travelocity to change an international flight ticket by two weeks, before calling them I already checked what the fares were for the new dates on travelocity's own website. But the customer service quoted me a fare $600 more than what I found in their website and the penalty, because they said that is the fare they saw in their computer. I was on the phone with them more than an hour and half and finally their manager called the airline and found out that the fare their computer is showing to the agents is much higher than the actual fare. Travelocity manager apologized, he and he had the airline agent change the flight and asked me to send a complaint to the customer relations center in Texas, so that they could correct their computer systems. Today I got a reply from the customer relations center saying that they cannot do anything, but call an agent about any issues, although I clearly mentioned in the letter that it is a manager for the agents who asked me to send that letter. Essentially they do not want to correct it, it seems. This is very different than the response I received from Orbitz, they responded quickly, corrected the problem, and gave me some credit for future travel even though I never asked any credits. I suggest to look for the actual fare before calling Travelocity agents if someone is changing the flight schedule, otherwise, one might end up in paying a lot more.
