Dish Network - Dish Cancellation Fees and Terrible Service
Dish TV - Complaint
SARASOTA, FLORIDA -- I responded to an ad on the Internet for Dish TV. They promised a $25.00
Visa card as part of the sign up. I paid an installation fee up front and
the installer came out and was told to mount the antennae on the gable
end of the rood so as not to damage my shingles which had just been
installed new. The Direct TV antennae was still in place on the gable end
facia of my roof.
I had to leave for a prior appointment and while I was away the installer
removed the Direct antennae but instead of placing the new dish antennae
there he mounted it right in the center of my roof damaging my new shingles. When I got home my wife was very upset and said she had told
him again not to mount it there.
The damage was already done and the installer refused to do anything about it. Since the roof was already damaged, I guess there was little he could do at that point.
I had numerous calls to Direct asking them to do something about my roof.
I also told them I had not received the $25.00 Visa card that was promised.
They did not seem to care and said the authorized dealer who handled the deal was responsible. they did not provide me any information
for me to contact anyone else and simply put me off and said they could not do anything.
Finally I got upset and told them to end my service because they had not
completed their end of the contract by not sending the 25.00 Visa card and not repairing my roof. I also cancelled my credit card authorization.
This did not stop them from charging me with a $300.00 cancellation fee plus they added on sales tax of $36.00. I do not think sales tax would apply to a cancellation fee as that is not a sale of goods or services.
At this point I am seriously considering spending the money to sue them in small claims court. Please beware of this company. I am sorry I did not review all their complaints before I signed up.
