American Airlines - HORRIBLE Customer Service to Minors Traveling Alone

WATERTOWN, NEW YORK -- My children in the summer fly from PHX to NY to see my parents. I chose Watertown for them to fly in and out because it is small and easy to get in and out. My retired Dad made a wrong turn and they arrived 30 min before departure. They had already checked in and just needed to check on one bag. After being ignored at the counter (the place was a ghost town) they were told No because they were not there soon enough. So my Dad says he will mail their clothes and to please let them on because they are already checked in (no line at security), once again told No, so they ask how can they get back to Phx, they were told Stand By. So rather than letting 2 kids checked already on, they would rather send them across country on stand by???
My parents said unacceptable, so the ticket agent said call customer service and refused to even re book them on a later flight, the customer service agent on the phone was helpful but they also charged us an additional 75 a seat. On the website, it says "suggested" arrival times, no where does it say you will not be let on.
Oh there was a sign AT the counter, that stated their rules but nice time to be made aware of that......never ever again will they get a nickel of my hard earned cash.
