After not being able to correct the problem, I called in a consultant that I have used for 25 years and he could not correct. We called Brother and they refused to provide the software patch to fix unless I paid another $49. The computer is 3 months old.

Did you try downloading the most recent driver from their website? I don't think the age of the computer matters with your printer issue.

Check your printer settings. Printers have an option for printing that way so that you can create an iron-on for a t-shirt. You probably have inadvertently triggered this setting. Find it and turn it off.

Try the solutions mentioned. Also, since printers are extremely cheap, buy a new one, either of the same make and model, or a different brand altogether. A web search of your make/model and the problem might turn up someone else who has had the same problem. Frustrating, to be sure, but that's technology.

We tried downloading the most recent driver. No help. It is the age of the computer because a second computer with an older operating system works fine.

Two of us with a combined 60 years of computer experience spent 2 hours trying to find a printer setting issue. No luck.

The fundamental issue is that it requires a patch. Brother's has the patch but refused to help us fix the problem without charging us another $49 even though the printer is under warranty.

Getting a new $350 printer is what I will probably do after I take back the one Brother's refuses to honor their warranty. For sure I will never buy another Brother's printer nor will any of the 70 people that work for me.
