Chase Online Banking - Conned by Chase
SOUTH ELGIN, ILLINOIS -- I have had Chase credit cards for decades. I have the same address for 30 years, and the same bank account (a local bank, NOT Chase). I got an offer by mail from Chase to open a checking account and if I did direct deposit and kept a minimum balance, they would give $200. free. Seemed like a good offer, and I wanted another checking account that would be joint with my daughter, going to college out of state, that we could both access.
So I opened the account, and within a few days Chase supposedly detected "potential fraudulent activity" and shut down my online access to my credit cards as well as the new checking account. Multiple calls to rude customer service achieved nothing...I answered all their "special" questions but they refused to give me any information. They also refused to give me access to the $100. which I had opened the checking account with.
I went to the branch bank at their request, and wasted almost 2 hours with their clerk Javiar, while he made multiple lengthy calls to "headquarters". At their request, I had brought 2 forms of photo ID, my drivers license and passport.... but that was not good enough, now they wanted me to come back for another visit with a utility bill. REALLY!!!! So the fishy part is, in all this bogus harassment, they have no problems with my credit cards (which have thousands in line of credit available), and they can give me no evidence of any fraudulent activity. They just reneged on the $200. thing. They are dishonest and incompetent.
