Dish Network - Return of Equipment
WEST SALEM, OHIO -- I called to terminate my dish service and was told they will send me a box to return the receiver, remotes and LBN. Several years ago my receiver died and I was charged $149.99 to get a new one. Since then I've had two more receivers die and each time I was told it would cost me $149 to replace if I didn't commit to a new two year contract. The last time I had the receiver replaced I was offered a service contract for $7.00 a month so I wouldn't have to buy another receiver. Now I'm being told I don't own the receiver, I'm just leasing it.
Isn't that amazing after paying Dish 149.99 and being extorted when their box breaks to either pay for a new one or extend my contract and I paid $7 every month for a maintenance contract on a receiver that I thought I owned. I really don't care much since it is a very old model and doesn't have much resale value but Dish kept charging me to repair/replace a box they owned. Just doesn't seem right. I did give them 4 stars because other than this my experience has been good.
