Bank One Complaint - Does anyone out there know what to do about dormant accounts - Dormant savings account

N/A -- I have moved to Sweden 2 years ago, and since then I've never done anything to my Savings account.. now it is Dormant.. I think it's rediculous really beacause I wasn't even informed prior to them putting a hold on my account.. I've already sent a form which I signed acknowledging that I am the true owner of this account..I've also diposited 1 dollar.. but nothing seams to be happening.. does anyone know how long is it going to take before I can actually access my account information?? I am studying and it's a little difficult for me to just pack upp fly back home just to re-activate an account.. Although if I have no other options left.. I guess I'll be forced to do so.. Right now I'm thinking how stupid I was to even open an account with Chase.. I think my next step is to just Close all my accounts and consider doing business with another bank that actually cares about thier costumers....

I've called telephone bankers numerous times, but all they can tell me is that it's going to take atleast 5 to 6 working days..

I think it's just a louzy way of trying to STEAL my money..

Does anyone know how long before my HARD EARNED money will go to the STATE?? just curious that's all..

What state did you live in when your account was setup? I think the laws vary from state to state.

I know in my state once it is dormant you have to get your money back from the state attorney general - the bank has to deposit it with them for safekeeping after a certain number of years. Somebody at the bank should be able to tell you for sure, work your way up the line until you get someone who knows (or go there in person if you can.)
