Sprint Refused to Cancel My Account
Customer Service - Complaint
ELMWOOD, LOUISIANA -- My husband and I divorced. We both asked that our accounts be split. We were told we had to go in at the same time to sign a cancellation form. He came all the way from Mississippi in order for us to complete this task. Sprint told us we couldn't do it over the weekend and we would have to do it through a department that was open only during our working hours. They said we both had to call around the same time and make cancellation arrangements. I would call and he would get called onto a ship where he had no service. He would call and I would be running around doing my work and couldn't get to the phone.
After a while of doing this we gave up and he just continued to pay the bill that was under my name. A fellow at the Sprint store actually suggested he start a new account and stick me with the bill, which he didn't want to do to since it was simply wrong to do that to anybody. I eventually split off the account altogether because of all of this and went to Verizon to get off his bill. I told them I was no longer their customer and to put the account in his name.
Two years later he finally did decided to open another account and change his number. He did this with Sprint and they knew there were no users left on the account. THEY ACTUALLY LEFT THE ACCOUNT OPEN!!! They continued to charge for two additional months! They are now sending me to a collection agency for the months that were not paid. His last payment on that account was in March. They finally turned off the phone in JUNE. How can I be charged when I continually pleaded with them to take me off the account? And then they continued to charge when there were no users left on the account I asked repeatedly to be removed from? How can they possibly get away with this?
