Infinity Motors USA Complaint - Lack of Support - 1999 Infinity QX4 - Replacement Parts

Review by PB on 2006-03-22
I own an 1999 Infinity QX4 that came equiped with a rear mounted spoiler/wind deflector made out of a plastic material. I broke the spoiler two months ago and went to my local dealer for a replacement. I was politely informed Infinity recently decided not to have the part manufactured any longer. They had just purchased the last two from their nation-wide network, which were of course already sold.

My next attemp was the after market which I tried locally and on the Internet. No one is making them. I next tried local salvage yards, as well as on the Internet, still none available. Even tried eBay.

My phone calls to Infinity Corporate Customer Care have been ignored. My local dealer simply says sorry there is nothing we can do.

Beside the point it is strange to have a vehicle only a few years old with parts discontinued, I now have a vehicle with two ugly mounting brackets sticking up in the air and no viable solutions offered. I guess Infinity just doesn't care after they have made the BIG money!

I don't consider a 7 year old car old when it is well maintained. Unlike some of you, I don't find it necessary to go out and buy a new car every year or two - an absolute waste of money. I continue to buy all kinds of parts for my 1992 Mazda that is towed behind my motorhome. The bottom line is Infinity does not support their products as well as many other companies. To choose not to manufacture parts on a 7 year old care is NOT good customer service. I have actually gotten better results dealing with thier parent company Nission Dealers - better service and lower prices.

It's a seven year old car - how long would you like them to keep parts? How about getting the old one fixed? Most bodyshops can do plastic welding and repair these days.

I think the answer to the time question is for 7 years that the parts must be made avalible. Keep trying Ebay.
