Lake Norman Toyota Informative - Lack of truth in advertising

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Short version. They made a great offer, then made it impossible to trade with them for their vehicle at the offered price.

My wife stopped by as she was in the area and saw a vehicle that she liked. We had been considering this vehicle and they gave her a "no haggle," price guarantee. We came back the next day to trade. They never did make an offer on my trade in, but wanted me to lease their vehicle at about $5000 more than the offered price. He mentioned a ballpark figure as an offer for my current vehicle which was less than half of the Wholesale price offered by Carmax less than 2 weeks ago. I offered to show him the offer, but he quickly said no, and his buyer would set a price. Naturally, the price on their vehicle was only guaranteed for this day, so if I went to sell my current vehicle to Carmax, they could not guarantee me the same price as today...

I have no plans to ever go back there again. As another on this board said, they should try telling the truth. It really goes a long way.

Always treat the purchase of the new car and the sale of your old car two separate transactions - even if trading it in to the same dealer. They count on being able to play with the difference in order to confuse the buyer. Great trade in value - they hoop you on the new car. Best deal in town on the new car - they hose you on your trade in.

I must agree with Hugh Jorgen and you should always remember a car dealer is a salesmen he will tell you anything to get you to buy but never the TRUTH

Me again. Had to give you the happy ending. We drove down to Superior Nissan on South Blvd. (well, actually we were killing time till Carmax opened), and while we were in the neighborhood, we test drove a new Quest. It was really a lot nicer than the Toyota LE we had driven at the "other place." They were reasonable about the offer, but it was just too much for us to comfortable handle, so we thanked them for their time, and left. The salesman, Ray, called later that night and had numbers that we could not turn down. They picked up the vehicle we were looking for, but when we started doing the paperwork, there was an error or our offer. It was the reason we could not turn down the offer- it was a mistake. Big time in our favor and you know what... They kept their word, and we were able to aford the vehicle we really wanted at a discount that made me feel bad for the dealer (I never thought I'd ever say that:). Bottom line, Superior Nissan has intergity, and a fine product. This is my true experience with both Lake Norman Toyota, and Superior Nissan. p.s. the sky view is really cool:)

What is a sky view? The sun roof?

The sky view is a combo of the Sun Roof and side panels on the roof going back to the rear passangers. A really cool feature.

We have used the service department at Independence Nissan and they seem like a good bunch of guys too.
