Applebees - Refusal to Serve More Than Two Shots
Bar /Restaurant Mgr
QUEEN CREEK, ARIZONA -- Just left Applebees in Queen Creek Az for the last time. Totally embarrasssed by the decision of the day manager to have her female general manager tell my business associate that he could not be served more than two shots of tequila in 24 hours. We were having drinks in the afternoon and were quiet respectful and not causing anyone to take notice of us, which is exactly what one would look for in a person who has had his/her limit. I have patronized this Applebees for several years and have watched many patrons drink a shot of whiskey or other liquor on the rocks and never observed them being told two was the limit. It would seem that because tequila is served in a shot glass straight up that it is more of a concern. If that is Applebees policy then for the 3 or 4 drink guy who is 270 lbs and knows his limit, should drink somewhere else. I know I will.
I tried to call Applebee's later and asked to speak to the manager, however after 10 minutes waiting on line I decided to just forget this whole issue and go elsewhere. Good honest service is a discretionary thing and it is unfortunate that more and more people in the service industry choose to just do their job and not excel in it.
