Dish - Overcharged for Installation & Service - Poor Service!
Customer Service - Complaint
KALAMAZOO -- We had DISH in the past. Being satisfied with the service we wanted it installed in our condo particularly for their new "Hopper". Within a day we discovered we were having issues with the reception and recording TV shows. We contacted DISH who sent out a technician. He reported that the Hopper would not work in our setting because of the type of cables hookups we had in the condo.
He suggested installing their older equipment instead, since our experience with it in the past was good. We agreed and DISH sent out the older equipment which I hooked up.
The kicker was DISH charged us almost $200 in addition to the original installation fee. Our conversations with their customer service people on the unfairness of this went unresolved. We were, more or less told, "you bought it...you got it for two years...so live with it". If we wanted it uninstalled we would be charged a fee. Now this is only weeks after DISH was first installled.
As for the service...I have never lost a television signal as much as I have with this current DISH system. It is so poor that only a few days ago it was raining (no thunder, no lightning, just rain), and our signal kicked out several times an hour until after the rain ended. We have even lost the signal on a sunny, clear day.
Many times we have lost the signal to our local television station while, at the same time, we can get stations on the east coast! The joke around here when we loose our signal is getting to be.."maybe it's too cloudy, maybe the suns too bright..maybe....In the past we have had Charter and U-verse and both were far, far better in service than DISH.
In addition compared to U-Verse, which was our previous provider, DISH offers fewer channels.
I know I won't get a satisfactory resolution from DISH. They made that quite clear already, but I do know I will never use them again after our contract ends and no matter what the outcome of this I will be the DISH's most vocal critic to anyone I meet intending to install a cable or satellite television service.
