Hyatt River Walk - Stolen Nikon and Lenses
Security - Complaint
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I was at the Hyatt on the River Walk in San Antonio attending a Handy Hardware Show and while I was attending the event, my Nikon D70 digital camera and three Nikon lenses, two spare batteries and Nikon bag were stolen from my room. Over $2000.00 in equipment. I filed a report with hotel security as well as the San Antonio Police Department. Security came and took my statement and followed up with me giving me updates on their progress even after I had returned home. I was impressed at the level of concern and was told I would be contacted by the insurance company the next day. Well the "insurance company" called and told me they weren't responsible for my loss! During our conversation I questioned Mr. [snip] the supposed insurance agent as to what insurance company he was representing and he said, "oh, the Hyatt is self insured". So I asked, " you're saying that you don't represent an insurance company"? And was told no, we are our own insurance company and your loss isn't our concern, as a matter of fact, I was told the loss was my fault by Mr.[snip]. So, their interest and and concern over the theft was merely a smokescreen to mollify me and keep down any confrontation that may draw attention to other hotel guest's about the theft. I am so not happy with all this and my Gold Membership is so not worthy of this sort of treatment. If there is anyone else who has lost valuables at their hotels and received the same responses, please let everyone know so people will be aware that their theft isn't an isolated incident. Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if interested in forming a complaint group. Thanks, Don B.
