Bad Whirlpool Fridge
BENTON, MICHIGAN -- We purchased an expensive Whirlpool side by side refrigerator in 2011 to replace a Whirlpool fridge that had worked great for more than a decade. We only replaced the older fridge to improve our energy bills; what a mistake! Our new fridge has a sealed system issue that will cost over half of what we paid for the new fridge. We would have been better off keeping the old fridge that worked! (I literally just bought another bag of ice to keep our milk cold when we wait for the repair.)
Although customer service was very nice in explaining that the fridge is out of warranty, I cannot believe that Whirlpool isn’t standing behind their product more. As it is a sealed system issue, the problem isn’t likely a result of improper customer usage. I could understand if the ice maker went out. But, it has only been two years, and when you special order the fridge, you hope to get more than two years of usage (especially given our previous positive experience with Whirlpool products).
Quality products usually don’t break after two years. And when they do, quality companies stand behind their products, which is what I wish Whirlpool would do.
