McDonalds - No 4-Piece Chicken Nuggets Without a Happy Meal?!
PARK RIDGE, ILLINOIS -- Yesterday was Baby Clutzy's first day of Kindergarten! After I picked her up from school, she asked me if she could have a Chicken Nugget Happy Meal for lunch. Since it was the first day of school (and she hadn't cried when I left her in the classroom), I agreed and we stopped by the local McDonalds on our way out of town. I ordered her usual, which is a 6 piece McNugget Happy Meal with no sauce and a Sprite to drink. Then I realized that Baby Clutzy Deux needed to eat too and since she loves chicken nuggets almost as much as her big sister, I asked if I could just get a 4-piece box of McNuggets as well since she's only 16 months old and doesn't need the fries, apples or soda.
The cashier informed me that they can't sell the 4-piece boxes individually. Well, Baby Clutzy Deux won't eat more than 2-3 nuggets, so I really didn't feel like spending the extra money on either a 6-piece box of nuggets (which you can order individually) or the 4-piece Happy Meal. But since I had no choice, I ordered the individual 6-piece box.
My question to McDonalds is, what is so special about the 4-piece box that you can't sell them individually? On those rare occasions that I'm in the mood for nuggets, I don't want to buy the 6 piece (too many WW points for me and I don't have the willpower to throw away the extra 2 nuggets) and I certainly don't want the happy meal. Maybe they should reconsider this from a portion control standpoint.
