COLORADO -- First, you have to wait on hold too long when calling customer support. If you call their sales number someone immediately answers so they have the ability to handle those calls. If you reach support and say that their answer to your question is is unsatisfactory the support person puts you on hold and hangs up. You wait a very long time and then the line goes dead.

I had a medical procedure performed by a doctor at the local hospital. GoldenRule denied the claim because they said that they did not have enough information. They of course, could have simply called the doctor and asked their question. Instead they forced me to go through an appeal process. They eventually accepted the claim but then claimed that the charges were too high. I have a high deductible policy. GoldenRule, by denying part of each charge, only applied a fraction of the cost to my deductible making it less likely that I would meet my deductible by the end of the year.

I looked up GoldenRule in the state insurance complaint list and they have one of the highest rates of complaints.
