Staples - The Worst Return Policy in Business.
Computer Software - Complaint
PORTLAND CASCADE STATION, OREGON -- I went to Staples Cascade Station in Portland, Oregon to get an updated Word Software program and even brought toner back to recycle. I requested assistance to be assured the software would work on my PC. I should have walked out at that point, since they were too busy to help me, as they were stocking shelves and I was interrupting them.
Finally, one woman looked at the program and said, this will work for your PC Vista program, and if it doesn't work, just bring it back. I bought it for $99.00, went home, opened the package and followed the directions to install. When I got to the end and just before installing, I received an error that my PC was not compatible. I went back the next weekend to return it and the manager and everyone in the store on this day said I couldn't return it because I opened the package. I was told by the manager to "give it to someone else." Really! I need a program for me, not give a $99 program to someone else. What happened to exchange! I left the store with a $99 program I can't use. I guess I should have taken by cash and threw it out the window on my way home. Don't buy anything at Staples you plan on opening, because if you open it and it doesn't work, forget it, you own it. Good business practices for a poor economy.
