Midas Auto Service - Charged $489.69 for Repair of Problem Caused by the Manager
Wanted Verification of Suspected Oil Pan Gasket Leak and Est Cost to Repair. - Complaint
STONEHAM (MAIN ST), MASSACHUSETTS -- At 4 P. M. on Sat, 9/7 I visited Midas to check on suspected oil pan gasket leak. The manager said he would check it out and shortly thereafter said it was the oil pan gasket leaking. He then proceeded to clean the engine with a strong solution which resulted in the car in the car being inoperable.
The solution had destroyed parts EGR155 and part PT5801. (Those are the parts for which I was billed along with $27.00 shop supplies )Total bill $489.69. When I drove into the shop, the car was operating without a problem.
Just short of closing time, the manager and other mechanics realized what the problem was and I had to leave the car there until Monday. On Monday 6/9 the car was repaired and I was billed for the amount indicated. (BILL NUMBER IS #0105768 dated 9/9/13.)
The manager had all kinds of excuses even blaming a previous mechanic who dad done transmissions work on the vehicle. I was billed the amount cited for a problem that didn't exist when I brought the car in and which was created by the manager. He caused the problem and should have fixed it without charge.
