DirecTV - Taped Programs, Primarily Sports, Historically "Freezing, or Shaking" Mid Viewing
Technical Support. - Complaint
CAREFREE, ARIZONA -- My husband and I called Direct TV yesterday for technical support. After being "passed on" to three different individuals, two of which you could hardly understand, we spoke with someone from DirecTV TV's technical support. After more than one hour of haggling, my husband and I finally gave up and feel that the extra charge that we pay for insured product is a joke! When speaking with a man named Herb, we were told that our problem was probably the actual live programing that had the difficulty. We shared the fact that there were just way too many examples of programs "freezing": golf, tennis, baseball, and football recordings for his primiss to be true. Herb flat out had no other suggestions and definitely was NOT going to send a technical service person to the house to check out the equipment or the equipment on the roof.
Repetitively he kept saying that we were to go to the TV, find an instance of the problem, and then go to the actual live program to see if it was the taping or actual on air programming. At that point we told him that we are not able to ask the US Open to start over again, etc.. I did share, probably five times, that even during a LIVE viewing of the news, two days ago during the rain storm, the freezing occurred again. I suggested that maybe the reception issue could come from the receiver on the roof. No response, just kept reiterating that we needed to go to a program where this was happening ...no new equipment would be brought to the house, and no tech person either. This man was clearly non-supportive, ill- equipped in listening skills, combative, repetitive and clearly not interested in being customer friendly.
Due to our age and life style, we elect to watch very little LIVE broadcasting; thus the reason for delayed viewing of most sports and weekly series. We have multiple TVs throughout the house all equipped with extra boxes adding to our monthly bill with Direct TV, but primarily we watch three of them. All have the capacity of recording.
We have been customers of Direct TV for many, many years, obviously we need to re-evaluate and look into another service provider...this has been extremely disappointing, demeaning and certainly not helpful. I sure hope the service call was taped...but probably wasn't.
