Kentucky Fried Chicken Complaint - KFC - ROACH in my GRAVY
TEXAS -- A few weeks ago, I purchased two meals to go at Kentucky Fried Chicken. I was halfway into my mashed potatoes with gravy when I noticed a lump in the gravy in the corner of the potato compartment. Thinking this was a thickened bit of gravy, I scooped it up and intended to trash it, but to my HORROR, it was a DEAD ROACH! This was not a meal I was about to eat, this was a meal I was in the process of eating. I immediately became VERY nauseated and once I could talk, I phoned the KFC to alert them, so they could discard the remaining gravy, asking to speak with the manager, but getting the assistant manager on the phone. I explained what I had found, he apologized and offered me another meal. Hello?? I don't WANT another meal from there! I want to know the gravy has been discarded and the roach problem will be eliminated.
The next day before time for KFC to open, I phoned the local food service inspector, but she was on vacation and out of the office. I called the only two numbers I could find for KFC offices. I spoke to "Tabitha" at 1-800-225-5532, explaining my concern and giving her all of the information but didn't feel as if anything was going to be done by opening, Before hanging up, I asked that someone from there contact me to follow up. To date, no one has contacted me from there about this call.
I then made a long distance call to 936-564-1168 and spoke to "Liz", again explaining my concern that something should be done before the KFC was opened and serving the public. She took the information, asked how much I paid for the meal and thanked me for bringing it to their attention. I asked that someone from there contact me and follow up, she said they would. To date, no one from there has contacted me either, although both places have not only my phone number, but also my address.
A week later the manager did phone me, he had just received the fax saying there was a problem, the store's fax machine had not been working, I resisted the urge to ask if he had worked the bugs out of it though. This was over a WEEK later!
In the meanwhile, I had contacted the local health officials and they assured me that the problem would be taken care of, including an inspection and pest control plan.
I am VERY disappointed that NO ONE followed up immediately from the complaints I had gone to the time (and expense) to contact them about. A simple phone call, a note of thanks, something, anything would have been better than silence. I was the one who found a ROACH while eating, I think at the very least, someone higher up than the store manager (over a week later) could have taken the time to phone me and follow up.
... and that's My3cents, thank you for letting me post it here!
