Sony Complaint - Faulty products from Sony with obvious manufactuing problems.
WATERFORD IRELAND -- My Sony Vaio has been returned to Sony 7 times in 16mnts. Twice the screen has been replaced, which from reading other complaints on this site and others suggests Sony have a major manufactuing problem with this part which they refuse to accept. This has left me without my laptop for over 10wks in 16mnts, resulting in a loss of information, clients and credability with customers of mine. The disk drive failed three mnts later and when I asked for the drive back to retrieve my information from it I was told I would have to pay for it's return. When I told them that the part was (by law) mine as I had paid for it, I was told to read Sony's terms and conditions. Within these terms Sony state that once they replace a broken (faulty) part it becomes theirs. This is so they can (as they state), use it again to fix some other poor fools product once it's been referbished. NO WONDER FIXED UNITS BREAK AGAIN IF SONY FIX THEM WITH BROKEN(FAULTY) PARTS. What a joke! Then six weeks later the mother board goes with no explanation, I have to fight verbally with customer services staff to explain there is no way I am willing to pay for this as it is obvious to me (not them) that my unit has serious manufacturing faults and that Sony should be happy to replace the unit and find these faults to improve other products, but no. Sony take back the unit three more times with keyboard issues that they say is software related the first time and then physical damage the next and try to charge me, but then when I refuse and ask what physical damage I am supposed to have caused this time but last time it was a software issue, I get my unit back with the dvd drive replaced, new touchpad buttons and a new keyboard facia ( which I may add was the wrong part)and new keyboard. Sony refuse to replace the unit unless it breaks one more time although promising by e-mail on three occasions to do this before. At this stage I'm convinced it will break down again as statistacally it has proven this again and again. I'm sure DHL have recieved the cost of my laptop replacement by this stage as €70 by 7 =€1400 which I'm sure Sony don't pay for the cost of producing one unit. Who runs these companies ? I'm not a rocket scientist but it doesn't take a genius to work out that WE are paying for managers stupidity and lack of forsight in these matters. "Wake up Sony and get with the real world and stop running from the problem and face it head on to produce products that work for more than four mnts at a time". Just to round thing off my screen is now flapping as Sony's repair team have forgotton to replace one of the screws that hold on the screen."PROFESSIONAL IDIOTS", I would say.
If anyone has had simular problems with Sony Laptops please do not hessitate to contact me as I would love to bring a legal case against them as a group to highlight these MANUFACTURING PROBLEMS and get some justice for the little people.
I would not recommend anyone buy a Sony Laptop unless they have fully read the complaint forums on this site and others and come to an informed conclussion. Although if you are reading this you have probably already had a problem or two or three or seven in my case.
