D-Link Security Cameras - Difficulties installing D-Link camera, tech dept doesn't answer phone

I purchased a D-Link model DCS-942L security camera. I followed the instructions word for word but the unit does not install. The instructions are wrong, One step says to double check the Mac address on the back of the camera with what shows up on the computer. There is no Mac address on the camera. The camera never shows up on the network whether it is in wireless mode or hardwired with a cat 5 cable.

I attempted to call D-Links tech department but stay on hold for close to an hour before hanging up. I sent customer service tech department a message on their web page with no response after three days. Having over 34 years of direct computer experience with Hewlett Packard company I find it hard to believe that the average person would ever be able to get this camera installed and working.

Where I went wrong is not checking out both the customer & professional reviews on this product. They all say the same thing; difficult to configure and poor customer support. I'll take it back to the store for a refund tomorrow.

Get a dropcam. easiest install there is and you just place it where you want and you can even record what is happening on the cloud. simple install.
