STUTTGART, GERMANY -- I reserved car at Stuttgart and drove to Paris, France. On the initial reservation I agreed to pay a drop fee of $150 Euros. I also requested a GPS.

When I got to the Hertz counter, the lady said it was a French car and therefore I would not have to pay the drop fee. She then stated that the car did not have a GPS but she had a hand held we could use if we were willing to pay an additional $100 Euros in addition to the daily rental rate. She said the $100E was a fee since it was a French owned GPS. Huh??

I declined and basically told her a GPS is a GPS. You select your own language on a GPS. She proceeded to give us instructions as to the car location. There was no shuttle and my daughter spent 15 minutes walking around to find the car.

When I dropped the car off in Paris, Hertz Paris informed me that Stuttgart had charged me the 150E for the drop fee. I complained and they apologized but said they had no control over Hertz Germany.

When I got home I complained but never heard back from Hertz. I will never rent fro Hertz again.

I wonder if this was a corp or franchise location? The battle though the same takes different routes to get resolved and your money back.
