DirecTV - Pathetic, Despicable, Horrible service

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- DirecTV is the worst of the worst. No matter which cable provider you plan to subscribe to, they will get you over the barrel no matter what. But DirecTV is horrible, and they should be ashamed of themselves.
After being a customer for a year and a half, my HD receiver quit working. I called to speak to tech support, which was totally pathetic, to say the least. They had me doing everything possible to try to get it to work again, but to no avail. It took 4 weeks until a new receiver came in the mail, after I had to virtually pull teeth to get one!!!
Fast forward 7 months. I'm not out of contract, and considered month-to-month. My rates went sky high!!! I called to cancel service, only to get bombarded with questions as to why I want to cancel. Their customer service representative tells me he cannot cancel service unless I answer his questions! Wait, what?!? I refuse! I hang up! So...service is cancelled.
After shopping around, my wife decides she wants DirecTV back, and she's going to get it in her name. You'd think that they'd want to welcome back a customer with open arms, right? Um...no. Again, more run around. Existing equipment is still in place, but a tech needs to be sent out for installation. Installation of what?! The equipment is already here! Hello....McFly!!!
I'm done at this point. My only other options are Dish or Comcast. Either way, I'll be paying more...but hopefully the customer service will be better with whichever company I decide on. Avoid DirecTV at all costs!!!
