La Quinta Inn Complaint - Theft - lodging

lodging - Complaint
Review by buzzard on 2006-04-08
LITTLE ROCK (BRYANT), ARKANSAS -- My family and I were traveling from Louisiana to North Arkansas for a weeks vacation and had car trouble as we were getting on to I-30 at Prescott. My son, Daughter and their famlies were following so we had that problem taken care of but we were all very tired so we decided to stay the night in Little Rock and get an early start in the morning. We were pulling 3 trailers (1 racing enclosed trailer, 1 utility trailer with ice chests, 4-wheeler, generator, 14ft. star craft aluminum boat and misc. tools and 1 utility trailer with a 4-wheeler). We looked for a nice upstanding motel because of things that were going to be left in the parking lot. We chose the La Quinta Inn in Bryant, Ark. which is located on I-30 and the 430 by-pass. When we checked in,(we got 3 rooms)we ask the desk clerk for a place that would be safe for our vehicles and trailers. "NO PROBLEM" he tells us and told us where to park. He gave us rooms and when my husband and I wlked into our room, it was dirty with dirty towels in the bath room floor, the tub was dirty and there was paper lying in the floor. By the way the beds were made. We called back to the office and told the clerk and he assigned us another room. So back to the office for more keys. Finally we got to bed. The next morning when my husband goes around where we were parked both utility trailers and every thing that was on them was gone. Made the report to the office and called the police and made a report with the officer. The Corporate (Risk Management) office got the report and 3 hours later I got a fax telling me they are not responsible for any of our loss. OH! and they DID have a security guard on duty from 12:00 p.m. till 3:00 a.m. He did not not see any thing, so he says. So please if you are traveling DO NOT stay at a La Quinta Inn. They are not responsible for any thing. That's what they told me. What was taken was ours and for someone to just drive in to a well lit place and no one sees a thing just floors me. Where was the security guard while this was taking place? Probaly in the office with the desk clerk. PLEASE DO NOT STAY AT THE LA QUINTA INN. It could happen to you!!!!!!!

Avoid using online travel agencies for booking when you travel: I’m spreading my horrible experience I had with EXPEDIA. Please read my case to avoid being the next victim of EXPEDIA:

What does that have to do with this complaint?
Am I understanding that you had all this stuff on two open trailers and think the hotel should be responsible for it??

I live in an apartment complex whose parking area is very, very well lit with large flood lights. The local police make at least two passes per night through our lot. One morning when my neighbor was leaving for work, she found her 6-month old Trans Am setting on cinder blocks. Two airbags were removed, along with all her expensive audio equipment. Should we blame the local police for not catching this? No. It's in an open area and definitely the thieves waited until the police left after one of their pass-throughs. Can someone tell me what the following have in common: Delta Airlines, British Airways, Travelocity, Orbitz, Priceline.com, Northwest Airlines, American Airlines, Air Canada, La Quinta, DHL, Carnival Cruise Lines, plus many, many more which I've stopped counting? They all have the SAME comment submitted by Doe3001! I realize I respond to a lot of the letters here, but I don't place a 'copy & paste' post for each one of them. Doe3001, your canned remark has nothing to do with the majority of the complaints to which you respond. Maybe you should rewrite it?

Amen, Ponie. Likely, it's another prank played by our site troll, slimjimjohnson2000.

Common sense will tell you to never leave open items laying around cause rule of law is, someone will take it. Most motels I know of have a disclaimer that they will not be responsible if anything is lost or stolen.

Sorry that happened to you. I'm thinking that all motels would say they weren't responsible. I mean they rent you a $100 a night room maybe 3 of them but I don't think they would do that and want to assume the liability of your what sounds like $100,000 worth of stuff in the parking lot. I'm sure they would hope your stuff was ok in the morning, even had a security guard but sometimes crooks can be sneaky.

Pirate, what the he!! does the poster's theft have to do with me? Idiot!
Posted by tander on 2006-04-08:
It sounds fishy to me to have a security guard and have all that stolen.
Posted by miketech on 2006-04-09:
So Tander are you implying that a security guard could have gotten on his cell phone and called a friend with a truck to come get the stuff? It is possible. Maybe even likely.

I am so sick of Doe's whining, that I am going to schedule a trip with Expedia as a protest.
