McDonald's Corporation Complaint - Expiration dates - Apple Dippers

Apple Dippers - Complaint
Review by tnresq on 2006-04-09
NEW HAMPSHIRE -- I love the fact that my 3 year old can have apple slices vs fries with his meal, great job on coming up with that one.....now if only they could get their employees to actually check the expiration date on the apples. I have in the last 6mo I have been gone to mcdonalds 6 times....and 4 out of those 6 times we have had to return the apples because they were past the expiration date(and not just by a day but 2 or 3. I would like to say its just been one sloppy store but no We vary between 3 McDonalds depending on the days events.

Experation dates on food are "best if used by.." they are usually still good for a week or so after that date...and that is usually when stores will reduce the prices of those items and is fine if YOU choose to buy that way...however, for a resturant to sell expired dated foods to customers is wrong...they are not giving the customer what the customer thinks they are paying for. I would send a complaint to the corp office.

I would say it all depends if this is a corporate ownded McDonald's or a franchise. If it is a franchise McDonald's, the owner is probably to cheap to get new inventory. It's true some foods is good past the experation date but different rules apply to restaurants. Contact your local health dept. and McDonalds's corp. McDonald's would be held liable if people got sick due to expired food.

I agree, the fruit instead of fries is a good idea. Unless it's an everyday meal it not gonna hurt to eat there once in awhile. But I think they should be notified each time this happenes. You deserve the fresh date and whoever is in charge of the food ordering needs to take a better look at what is selling so they can adjust.

I work in a coporate store and I can tell you that if it is expired then it gets tossed, and 9 times out of ten when you still have product like apples that have expired still hanging around then someone needs to learn how to do the ordering because they are over ordering stuff and then getting stuck with it.
