Wounded Warrior Project Executives Living High on Donations
JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA -- I am retired military and have lost many friends in combat. Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) seemed like the perfect place for some of my charitable contributions. I have been allowing them to charge my credit card for $25.00 each month for the past several years. Recently a friend told me that WWP executives are taking a very large percentage of the donations. I began an online search to try to find out if this is true. What I found is that the Executive Director receives $330,000 annual salary. Another executive (I can't find my notes so I can't name him) receives $313,000 salary. I have decided that I no longer want to contribute to the lavish lifestyles of these people so I called WWP to stop their charging my credit card. My call went to voicemail and I left a message that someone should call me. After two weeks, I have not received a return call. I called my credit card company to ask them to stop the charge but they told me that it would be necessary for WWP to tell them to stop it. My card is a Visa and is issued by my local bank. I plan to go to the bank today to get these monthly charges stopped. If they again refuse to stop it I intend to cancel the Visa. This is a painful thing that I am doing but I simply will not give money to people who do not use it for the purpose for which it is given.
I have found Hope For The Warriors, an organization that does the same thing as WWP but where 80% of contributions go to assisting our wounded warriors and I plan to contribute to them instead.
