Chase Manhattan Bank Complaint - Chase Mastercard
NORTH AUGUSTA, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I have had it with Chase Bank! They are as Clark Howard says "customer NO Service" and I will not deal with any company that even mentions their name. I was given a low interest rate in 2003 if I would keep the credit card open and received a letter from the V.P. stating the rate would be 5.99%. This rate continued till 2005 when I noticed my interest rate had increased on my April 2005 statement to 8.74%. In July it jumped to 9.24%. I contacted their useless customer NO service representative and was told that there was a notice sent out in February stating interest rates were going up and that I would have to close my account. I informed them that I received no such notice and asked for a copy. They were unable to send one. I was also informed that obviously my credit history had been reviewed and there was something negative showing. I pulled my credit report and there was nothing new that has not been in place since before I kept the account open. I was extremely puzzled about this whole situation. I wrote a letter to complain in Sept. but received no response. I contacted Chase again when my interest rate jumped to 28.44%. I was told in December that if I closed my account my interest would return to 12.99%. Unbelievable! I closed the account as instructed.
I have yet to see the interest rate lowered as promised. I contacted Chase again April 2006 and was told that whomever I spoke with in December had told me incorrectly and that I would not be receiving any change to my account. When I asked for a copy of the conversation transcript I was told they use them only for training. What bull! I have now written them again, but with cc's to the Comptroller of Currency, BBB, and the Attorney General's office. I am going to pay this card off and never deal with them again.
