Target Complaint - Need help

Complaint
Review by Anonymous on 2006-04-21
CHICAGO, KANSAS -- As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.

On April 9,2006 I Went To My Local Target Store On Pulaski! There I Purchased A D-link Cable Modem! When I Got Home I Opened Up The Box And To My Surprise Inside The Box Was Not The Cable Modem! It Was Something Else! When I Went Back To Target To Show Them What Was Inside The Box They Did Not Want To Help Me At All! They Looked At Me Like I Did It! They Started Acting Rude And Disrespectful Towrds Me!I Know That Things Like This Don't Happen All The Time But They Do! they Kept Telling Me That They Don't Wrap Stuff And That I Would Have To Talk To The Manufactor Of The Product! I Was There For About An Hour Trying To Get Some Help! But To No Avail! I Left The Store Feeling Betrayed And Angry! The Next Day I Called Target And I Talked To A Store Manager In The Electronics Department! I Told Him What Happend And He Advised Me That He Would Look Into The Situation And He Would get Back To Me That Week! Well He Never Called Me Back!Well Later When I Got Home From Work I Wrote An E-mail To The Company Of The Cable Modem! Later They Wrote Me back Telling Me That They Do Not Manufactor Those Kinds Of Products And That I Would Have To Take it Up With Target For A Refund! Well I Wrote And E-mail To Target Again(The First 1 I Wrote I Never Got A Response)A Lady Named Sarah E-mailed me Back Saying That The Target On Pulaski Would Not Give Me A Refund!

As a resolution, I would like the following:

I Would Like Something to be Done About This! If It Wasen't Me It Would Have be Someone Else. I Don't think It's Fair That I HAve To Be Stuck With Something That I Didn't Pay For!

Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.

Your letter is more likely to end up in the shredder before it will show up on the Attorney General's desk. Hopefully his or her secretary doesn't pass on this childish report which is so difficult to read with the CAPITALIZATION on every word. I know quite a few people who can't spell, or use bad grammar, but none that capitalize every word.

Sounds like a return where someone swapped out the unit from the box with whatever you got. What was it anyway. If you charged it, I would dispute the charge as your next step. And not to harp, but that is a strange writing style. It's not pleasant to read and even looks labor intensive comparatively. A friendly tip would be to cease capitalizing every word when writing important letters.

I enjoyed the liberal use of exclaimation points! You don't get to see them used that much these days!

A few years back I helped my grandmother purchase a vacuum cleaner from Target. The box was sealed perfectly and we thought we were buying the machine she wanted. When we got home and opened the box, we were horrified to see an older model machine from another manufacturer that had apparentky been used in someone's pigsty extensively, was covered in dust and dirt, and the canister was full of refuse.
We took the machine back box and all within the hour and the store graciously gave my grandmother a refund, but to this day she avoids shopping there because of this incident.
I would like to know how the culprits got those metal staples out of and then back into the box the machine came in (unless it was done at the factory...)

Wal-Mart Would Have Issued An Immediate Refund Or Exchange. I Can't Wait Till We Get A Target So I Can Refuse To Shop There.

Brent, is walfare anything like airfare? If so, maybe you can spend it on another flight from Toronto to Florida. When the pilot gives in to your demands to land, you can spend whatever is left over on chicken nuggets. Gosh! I hate when that happenEs to me!

tgtman - Dude! Seriously! Sign up for an anger management class. What is up with your seriously corrupt and hateful postings to everyone? Has working at Target made you this bitter and cynnical?

Sounds like Target goofed again and wants to blame the consumer. Why is it so difficult for the person at the return desk to check the box when someone is returning something to make sure it is the correct thing being returned? Instead they take the persons word for what is in the box and without cheking it goes back on the shelf for the next person to buy. Since you can't open it in the store you are now stuck with the wrong item and having to prove to the return desk that this is how it was when you bought it. At least Wal-Mart verifies what you are returning to be the correct item.

When purchasing a boxed item, even a cheapo coffee maker, I always find a sales clerk, tell them I am purchasing the product, but I am opening the box first to check for any problems. I also explain what I've done at checkout. Thus far, no salesperson has ever had a problem with my digging in the box. I guess if they did, I'd go elsewhere to shop. My kids handle it by pretending they don't know me.
